Ryggskott in swedish. Back shot. And not that I know what its like to be shot in the back but I imagine you end up on the floor as I did. Having had a nice relaxing massage the night before I guess the muscles were all confused about quite what their job at the moment should be. Is it to be tense and protect the spine or is it chill out and let the back take the wrap?
Well anywasy i reached for a pot low down in the fridge, screamed and then threw myself onto the kitchen floor in a kind of agony right in front of Sandra. It then took a while to get up and get onto a chair and receive some painkillers.
Everyone left and i fixed a few things, by crawling around on all fours. An attempt to get upstairs was put on hold. I googled after chiropractors in Genarp and texted a friend in the village to see if they knew any, my thought was they can come to me. No luck.
Staffanstorp was the nearest . I shuffled out to the car and tested getting in and pushing pedals. It hurt but I could do it.
No time in Staffanstorp till next week. Called Lund. Booked a time next morning. Better. Called Malmö . Got a time in an hour!! Yippee. Drove uncomfortably there. Horrible getting out. Shuffled in with a brolly for support.
Cut a long story short. She jumped on me a couple of times, and I said, "Chrrrist" loudly. It didnt really seem to make much difference at the time, but felt a bit better later.
The guy in Lund was in a different league the next day, and i got instant relief and went for a lovely walk in the afternoon.

And so, away to Mats. To hunt for mushrooms and play games. Hanna, Stella, Astrid and Klara and me. Sandra, having clearly suffered from some sort of knock to the head has decided to run 10km through the dark in G'borg with Kenia.
We have a little scary car trouble on the way up. I'm in the fast lane overtaking when suddenly car says, "Beep", some warning triangle comes on the dashboard and the motor loses power. Judders a bit too. I manage to pull over and find a safe layby. Open bonnet, engine still there. Look at warning sign. Anti-skid. Hmmm. Turn engine on again, sign gone. Decide to drive to services 1km away up a hill. Car goes funny again. Crawl up hill at 50 kmh blinking.
Many questions from backseat to which dad has few answers. Call Mats, not looking good i say. Oh no!!! He say. Call Sandra, what insurance do we have? Read manual, turn off antiskid. Drive around big car park a bit. Warning signs disappear. Drive to Mats. Somewhat anxiously. Get large Gin and tonic. Ahhh!

We find no mushrooms, but we do find ant highways and mysterious beast bones. We play Hek Mek, Airships, Port Royal, Africana, and a hedgehog game.
It's Hannas birthday on tuesday so we open a few prezzies to celebrate. 12! Shes going to be 12!!

A mildly hungover visit to a café in Brösarp. Where Emma lives and where i once did a therapy dog course. Without a dog.
I like this tableau, this is Sweden on a sunday morning.

On the way from Öveds kloster after dropping the kids. We passed some proper white trash places out in the middlish of Skåne. Old cars rotting in gardens and strangley patched up houses.

Party time! Emma and Magnus (Sandra was at school with Emma) turn 40. The party is in the village hall and all ages are present and correct. It was cosy and old fashioned and lots of fun. Table settings, I sat opposite Sandra and a soldier and next to a thatcher called Therese and a bubbly lady called Karin. Excellent. There were three courses and plenty of schnapps and singing.
​The kiddywinlkes were dropped at Malins for added freedom and entertainment.

We had a lovely time. Lots of dancing and chatting and cocktail making. Then up the (slightly) wobbly stairs to Bedfordshire

The transformation of the homestead continues. Jo sent me this. They've put skylights in.
Our old home in Wharf Lane. I lived there from 1971 until 1995/6? I think. I will edit when i remember or Joge tells me!

So, as part of my ongoing techniques for coping with the swedish winter I have begun to do mindfulness training. Fitness training for the mind if you like. For my bod I already have my walking, cycling, kempo, sauna and rowing machine for when its just too awful outside. And a lot of these are good for my brainium also of course.
​But this is specifically for my mind.Regularity and patience is the key apparently. I've started with 5 minutes a day. Samten is a free app to help me get started. I found it through my journey into podcasts that started this year. Found one with Ruby Wax talking about  her book, 'How to be Human'. Bought the book on ebay (Dom brought it over, thanks mate). Its quite interesting, talks about mindfulness. Has both a monk and a neuroscientist to explain their angles. The monk, Thubten, has the app. He has a good voice and seems like an all round nice guy.
