The heatwave continues superb and unabated. A hot ride in the car, less than 2 hours so they can handle it. But wouldnt have done it when they were babies. No AC in either of our Peugeot cars and they'd apparently have to take out the engine to fix it. But what bliss then to sink down into Mats lake. Oh my. Delicious, with cold and warm swirls in the water. you find a warm one and float. We arrive to find Mats on his ipad next to a dog in his woodshed. After a quick sarnie its Laketime. Sandra is doing a Kempo camp back in Skåneland, and then hitting town with the Hood. These pics are from the second, evening, dip. Some games were played and burgers eaten in between. I love being at Mats place. Its instant holiday feeling. He is a fantastic host. Relaxed, generous and entertaing.
Its a lovely old house with a separate guest house and a big ol' barn. We wander back up with Ester a neighbours dog and tuck into some ice cream. Which is the name of the Ruby Wax book that i recently bought on ebay. The lovely Dominic will bring it with him when he visits for Midsommar. Looking forward to that (and reading the book). Its all about mindfullness and its a conversation with Ruby, a Tibetan buddhist monk and a neurosurgeon. What does mindfullness or meditation do for the mind and why is it a good thing.
Anyways the monk is called Thubten. He's English and i think i read somewhere that his mum acted in Goodness Gracious Me on the Beeb. He has a good voice to listen to and I found this www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vTviVkFJzM on yer Youtube. I havent watched it, I just stick it on the headphones when I'm cycling at work. I like his explanation and he has a good voice. That is all. This is a grrreat idea. Its quite weird that what with CPH being so close I've hardly been there. There are (long distance) plans afoot to connect their metro system with Malmö. It would then take 20 mins to get to the centre. Fukkin A. Takes about 35/40 mins at the mo. Downside is it aint gonna happen for another 15/20 years. Doh
What the hell are they making in there now? Havent had the opportunity to ask yet, but I will. And some little handtrucks just hangin'.
I love these old Land Rovers. I dont need one in any way whatsoever. BUT I WANT ONE!! They are sooo car-like. As if a child was the chief designer. This one is from '76. No idea what it costs. No idea if it goes. Don't care. Want.
In beautiful/ strange Vik. An old fishing village. Mostly bought up by outoftowners who are there in the summer. Still, its lovely. Thatched rooves, weird little extensions, tiny streets. Great gardens. The ocean and stunning views to Stenshuvud. Whats not to like. Great to do some concentrated yoga too. Nice level for me. Plenty of over 50's. I think Sandra was the youngest one there. She found it, booked it and granny lives just 20 mins walk away along the beach. So, sorted for kidcare. It was idyllic, nice food, nice people. Thanks hon.
Such is the extent and awesomeness of my computer skills that i have no idea how to delete this post. Yet. So it stands alone and proud. May the force be with you May 22nd.
This is an audiobook app from amazon. I like it. I'm trying free 30 day trial after which i will most likely cancel coz i is tight with the money innit? However during that time you get a credit to 'buy' any book or lecture/ talk type affair.
You might like a bit of Tolle, ahem. Or Bruce reading 'Born to Run'. Or The Best Australian Bush Stories. perhaps, The Death of Bunny Munro by Nick Cave. Pretty much whatever you fancy. You can then return the book if you dont like it (or just wanna get more...) The book remains in your library nonetheless. So, for some reason I was given two credits to start with. And i've 'returned' one book. So I have 3 in me library to keep Forever. Whats not to like? This fabulous print was spotted at Erikshjälpen and very nearly came home with us. I'm not sure Sandra would agree to it going in the house but I could always have it in the garage, go out and admire it from time to time. Its sooo wrong, yet so great.
He's awfully buff the sailorboy. And i loove that Jeseus is dreesed like an old favourite aunt. So the thing I'm noticing is that the nicer the weather the slower the blog grows. It's been absolutely blissful weather the last coupla weeks. Done lots of evening rides about 20 km each time. Real pretty now with the bright yellow rape seed fields against that blue blue sky. Been grilling burgers and sausages in the garden and the wee ones have been out n about riding bikes, swinging and climbing trees. In the interest of balance I should also mention that there are tantrums, poo-filled pants and moaning. And cuddles, lots of cuddles. |
